Hello Friends! Today we're introducing a fun new feature on our blog: Bright Ideas Collaborations. Last week I (Emily) wrote a new song called Lighthouse. I have several friends going through very difficult seasons - losing a young friend to cancer, dealing with chronic pain, infertility...so I wrote a song out of the overflow of my heart. I released the song on a day that another set of friends, Scott and Tabitha Swires, were asking for encouragement and decided to share the song with them. Scott and Tabitha were so encouraged by the song that I shared that they decided to make a response video with Scott filming and Tabitha dancing the overflow of her heart to my song (see video below).
We were so inspired by this spontaneous collaboration that we thought, why not make this a regular thing and give more opportunities for overflowing our hearts together? We talk so much here at Bright Ideas about creativity being an expression of your passion - putting a piece of your heart out into the world, and we want to make room to mingle our passions with you all!
This is your invitation to join the party! Give my song Lighthouse (below) a listen (or maybe 2-3) and see what arises in your heart as you take it in. Any sounds? Words? Poems? Lyrics? Melodies? Dances? Graphics? Photos? Videos? Pictures? Recipes? Rhythms? Landscapes? Paintings? Don't be limited to this list! As you listen - how does your heart want to respond? Try letting it out and see what happens! It doesn't have to be perfect - this recording of my song certainly isn't polished - but it's real and it's expressed into the world. Share your responses on social media using the hashtag #BICollab and tag @brightideasco on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Feel free to include me & Sarah in your tags as well! You can also email us at brightideascollective [at] gmail [dot] com. We can't wait to see the overflow of your hearts! We'll share our favorite responses next week. :)
